  Do you beleive in God, the bible or religion?

  i'm pretty sure this question has probably been asked before but i'd like to put it out here and see what the responses are.

  my doubts about the bible probably began maybe 6 or 7 years ago, they were very small ones however and i managed to supress them for quite a while.

  however certain events in my life would make those events resurface.

  Any kind of spirituality I ever had was drummed out of me by 20 years of mind numbing meetings, man made rules and broken promises.

  I very much doubt it !!

  I think the majority of new baptisms are people born into the religion, rather than those who see the light because of a knock at the door!
  
  Which makes me think that if it were all true and only Witnesses were to be saved then it would be a game of chance. You get saved by being lucky enough to be born into the right religion.

  what is the purpose of the kingdom ministry?.

  the 1995 october 15th watchtower stated that the parable of the sheep and the goats will be fulfilled some time after the great tribulation.. up till that time jws were led to believe they were engaged in a separating work in fulfilment of that sheep and goats parable.

  but from 1995 on, the watchtowers increasing new light shifted the emphasis from a separating to a preparatory work.. this leads to questions : what is the purpose of their kingdom ministry and in what way does it prepare people?.

  Hi there collegegirl !

  I had a similar situation to yourself, but with me it was my older brother.
  He'd stopped going to meetings when he was 17. I remember taking the "Life everlasting" book into his bedroom to try and get him to come back to meetings. When he refused the book I just broke down. Having the constant thought that the same God who would save me would also destroy my own brother used to tear me apart !
  It is very unfair to put kids through these kind of emotions.

  I agree entirely. These were the sort of little questions that used to plague me constantly when I went to meetings.
  I presumed a serial killer would be destroyed at Armageddon - but if he got run over by a car the day before Armageddon he'd get a resurrection, wouldn't he?? Is that fair ??

  What would happen to the billion or so Chinese who had never heard of JW's?
  I was always told that God would look at their heart condition, but this invalidated the point of the ministry - seperating the sheep from the goats.

  But that's just another doctrine that's changed in the few years since I left.
  Just add it to changes with the blood issue, Generation of 1914, King of the North/ King of the South, and on and on and on......

  formulated a response.. first, tons of emphasis on armageddon - rabble rousing.

  I think what they need is a blast of "new light" to bring Armaggedon closer then ever. The greatest increase of JW's came before 1975 and there's nothing like a date to get new JW's in.

  This of course would only be "suggested" in literature, maybe a slight change in chronology or a change in an application of prophecy.

  The generation doctrine is now too vague to be of any use in getting new recruits.

  the "please be seated" post rememded me of our experiences at the last district assemblies we attended.. it was in the nynex / manchester evening news arena and it was hot ... damn hot.

  they were obviously being 'cheap' and not paying for the air conditioning to be turned on.. liam was a baby and was becoming unwell because of the heat.

  he was overheating badly which is pretty dangerous at that age so we stripped him off and took him out up the steps to the concourse.

  Oh yes - the pitch invasion.

  My mum sent my dad to get some flowers - he came back barely alive - almost trampled to death by the rush of old ladies!

  it seems like everyday we're seeing new names here on the board.

  there are so many posts it's hard ot keep up, and keeping the posters seperated is just impossible.. i forget sometimes that people are leaving the wts everyday, and certainly a bunch of them end up here.

  but, is there any data showing the number of new posters?.

  it seems like everyday we're seeing new names here on the board.

  there are so many posts it's hard ot keep up, and keeping the posters seperated is just impossible.. i forget sometimes that people are leaving the wts everyday, and certainly a bunch of them end up here.

  but, is there any data showing the number of new posters?.

  I joined just over a week ago. So far so good.

  Don't know why other people join but I've joined so that I can say the kind of things that I usually have to keep quiet about with JW relatives.
